Gulfport and the Fog

This weekend we cruised to Gulfport, located on Boca Ciega Bay, with some of our marina neighbors. The bulk of trip over was in fog and we went very slowly with constant attention to the radar.  What should have taken just under 2 hours took just under 4 hours.

Once we were anchored Zipper kept anchor watch and we went ashore to explore Gulfport with our Austrian guest (Gerhard Fousek).

Afterwards, our neighbors (Art, Janet, Iver, Lynn, Dennis, & Shara) joined us on C.A.R.I.B. II for a little happy hour prior to heading ashore again for dinner.

On Monday morning, we awoke to clear skies and got ready to head back to St Petersburg with the sunrise. Unfortunately, as we turned towards Tampa Bay we were met by a thick fog bank and were forced to find a place to get out of the channel.  So much for getting back to the marina in time for work.

The fog lifted after a couple of hours and we had a very nice trip back.  In fact, check out our travel companions....
