It was another beautiful cruising day today as we continued our journey south along Florida's Gulf Coast. We spotted a bald eagle just hanging out on a wooden piling.
We decided to see a bit of the "natural Florida", so after 34 miles we dropped anchor in Pelican Bay, just off the shore of Cayo Costa State Park. The island is one of Florida's largest unspoiled barrier islands. It lies 2 miles south of Boca Grande and north of Captiva Island. Because we are going to be away from Florida for several months we wanted one last opportunity to sink our toes into soft Gulf Coast sand. It's a wonderful place and very peaceful.

One more thing--our "little buddy" Zipper is doing great. She now comes out during our cruising, rather than hiding out under the bed covers the whole time. And her appetite is just fine.
